Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) conducts annual international assessments of students' knowledge in mathematics and science. Results of these assessments have shown that American students rank lower than their Asian and European counterparts.
Our government and educators have agreed that our students need to improve in their mathematics and science studies. This will allow our country to compete on a global basis. Also, politicians and educational leaders have concluded that most manufacturing jobs will never return. Therefore, we must offer retraining to our adult population to fill jobs in the technology field and prepare our youth for employment in a global economy.
At Reaching Potentials, we focus our attention on exposing our youth to careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The Institute establishes STEM Clubs in partnerships with after school programs. The after period is the most crucial time of the day. During this time, our students are exposed to drugs, crime, gangs, and sexual activities. To avoid these risky behaviors, our STEM Club Program help keep students from trouble and off the streets. Parents can be assured that their child is being supervised by educational leaders rather than being exposed to risky behaviors.
